My Picks

Lately, I have been watching a lot of television and have a lot of cool favorite shows. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays I have a busy schedule. And now I'll give you a play-by-play list of shows that I watch during the week. These shows are really awesome and I hope you start watching. On Mondays, I usually tune in to T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle and Hawaii Five-O. At nine o' clock, I usually grab a plate of food and sit down and get ready for some laughs on VH1's smash hit T.I. and Tiny. In this funny reality show, the inner workings of a rapper's extended family are highlighted along with his adorable wife. I really love how T.I. acts behind his career and how he tries to show his kids the true value of a dollar and life lessons. His kids are also a bonus because on each episode, they are always getting into trouble and making me laugh. You would think T.I. would be really uneducated and gangster due to his felonies and rapping career, but he turns out to be really nice. It's funny how stereotypes precede us. Then, at 10 o' clock, I turn over to Hawaii Five-O, my weekly dose of beautiful scenery and wise-cracking cops. As you all know, Hawaii Five-O is a reboot of the 70s long running television show, but better. In this reboot, there's a mysterious storyline going on on each season and a wild twist every two episodes. Plus, this one shows more scenery of Hawaii and all of its islands. That's my Monday nights for you. Then, I usually blank out on Tuesdays since there's nothing that comes on except New Normal. However, I watch that on On Demand on Wednesday nights. Then, I skip on over to Wednesday. Usually around nine or nine-thirty, I switch on over to truTV and watch my favorite towing company, South Beach Tow. Every Wednesday, Tremont Towing gives me a hilarious thirty minute run on their encounters with their repossession "customers". Berenice is always funny and is never dry or dull when it comes to knocking someone out. I definitely recommend this show for you guys, if you can handle it. That usually ends my Wednesdays and transitions me right over to Thursdays. Due to just three weeks ago, my Thursdays got real hectic. However, Thursday nights are my favorite night of television, and it usually kicks off at 8:00. When it's eight o' clock, I stop whatever I'm doing and click over to BET to watch Appollo Live. This is, of course, a reboot of the old long running series following amateur night at the Appollo theater. Amateur night is actually a stage which made some of the greats like Gladys Knight and Luther Vandross. So, I usually tune in to see a star be made, or broken. Then, at 9:00, I head on over to FOX to watch my favorite group high-school singers, Glee. This television show follows the ups and downs of high school kids who deal with worldly issues while singing in the school's glee club. This show features amazing singers, such as Amber Riley and Lea Michelle, and shows a lot of drama and comedy. After I'm done with them and have eaten my dinner, I switch over to ABC to watch my number one favorite television show of all time, Scandal. The Shonda Rhimes created show follows the life of political fixer Olivia Pope and all of her associates and members of the White House. And even though Olivia fixes major scandals throughout the world, she finds herself in an incredible lie herself. This show is incredibly juicy and scandalous, and will leave you breathless. I also recommend this show. That usually ends my action-packed night and lands me in a good mood for Fridays. Now, unfortunately for Fridays, I only have one thing to watch. During the summer, Tyler Perry's show House of Payne was cancelled to make way for another of his projects. The second season of For Better or Worse, which was based off Perry's movie, now fills the Payne's spot on Fridays. On Fridays, I put on this horrible-turned-good show which chronicles the lives of married couple Marcus and Angela and all of their hardships. Even though it could never fill the void of 'House of Payne', it hits the spot on Fridays and gets me ready for the weekend. Then, on Saturday, I wait until 11:30 p.m.to watch real television. Then, when it rolls around, I have myself a ton of laughs on Saturday Night Live. This nightly live NBC show, shows an array of comedians doing hilarious skits live. The host of the show also changes each week so the viewer doesn't get bored. The show has also jump started the careers of Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, and the outrageous Kristen Wiig. The most hilarious episode this season was this past Saturday when Jaime Foxx  hosted. Then, I end my week on Sundays by watching the hilarious Southern Belles on Real Housewives of Atlanta. This part of the Real Housewives franchise features the lives of Cynthia Bailey, Nene Leakes (who's on New Normal), Phaedra Parks, Kim Zolciak (who just quit), Kandi Burress, and new wife Kenya Moore. These women keep me rolling every week and always bring the drama. Well, that concludes my weekly play-by-play, but I want to know yours America. Send me your comments on what you like to watch during the week along with your feedback on what I have or haven't said. And, hopefully, I will get back with you. Tune in next week to learn about all your favorite entertainment and celebrity news. And before I go, I wanted to inform you that The Trial continues. Just yesterday, I posted chapter 5, The Lightning Field, and I hope you all enjoy. And for those of you who are interested in reading it, the address is brordon.blogspot.com. Until next time........

Fun at The Movies

This past week, I went to the movies and saw two new masterpieces. They were almost impossible to describe, but awesome. This past week, I saw two blockbuster installments of two different movie franchises. My eyes glanced at the beautiful screens of Skyfall and Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2. Even though I don't like Daniel Craig as Bond, I thought he did really well and gave a fine performance. In Skyfall, Bond is presumed dead after a run in with some guy on a train. Months later, Bond resurfaces in London and learns that the agency has been bombed. He then returns to MI6 to reclaim his title and track down the former agent-turned-killer. Skyfall was the best Daniel Craig movie yet and Javier Bardem was a phenomenal villain and played the part so well. Adele also did an awesome job at singing the title song and it was a bonus for the new film to introduce Q and Ms. MoneyPenney, who were both in the old films but were absent in the first two Craig films. The only down side of this film is the absence of a real Bond girl. From the commercials, I thought there would be an actual sidekick but I guess not. Then, I went to go see the third most anticipated movie of the year, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2. In the "final" installment of the Twilight films, Bella is finally transformed into a beautiful vampire after her going through a few horrible hours of birthing her half-human, half-vampire baby Renesmee. However, the Italian vampires who run the vampire world, the Voultori, hear false allegations of the baby and prepare to kill the baby and the Cullens. Meanwhile, our loving family of vampires must assemble some of the most powerful vampires of the world to get the Voultori to hear their side. This was the most thrilling of all the movies and kept me on the edge of my seat. Dakota Fanning also gives a knockout performance as the evil, cunning vampire Jane. However, I must warn you, there's a wild twist at the end that leaves you amazed and dazzled. And now that we're done with that, let's discuss some late breaking Lindsay Lohan news. And believe me people, I'm tired of talking about her too, however, I don't have anything else to talk about. So just suck it up. Recently, Lindsay has been the target of the media and has been involved in some pretty heavy stuff. As you all know, Lindsay lied to the police about her driving her Porsche that she crashed just this summer. However, Lindsay has been doing other things. Just this past week, Lindsay punched a woman at a New York bar called Avenue. Apparently, the woman made some snarky remark at Lindsay for her choice in a date and Lindsay went off. The woman is pursuing charges and is trying to get a settlement. However, this doesn't stop Lindsay's troubles for a long shot. Just this past weekend, the IRS said that Lindsay owes them more than $200,000 in back taxes and could face jail time. So, according to all of this, Lindsay could be facing up to ten years! All I have to say is Lindsay, you shouldn't be in debt anyway with all the money you made from The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday. Plus, stop doing all this crazy mess so you can be America's sweetheart again, like back in 1998. I hope you make a comeback and finally find some peace. Well, this is the end for today. However,  tune in tomorrow for an exclusive on all of this year's biggest bombshell movies. And as always, please send me your feedback on anything I have or haven't said and I will address it in my next blog. Until next time.......

50th Anniversary of Bond

For 50 years, James Bond has been entertaining millions and uttering the famous words "shaken, not stirred" and "the name's Bond, James Bond". And since this is an iconic year for Bond, I will give you my personal top five movies, my favorite Bond and Bond girl, and favorite villains of Bond. Let's get started with my favorite movies of the genre. At number five is the iconic The Spy Who Loved Me. This movie is very iconic with its classic villain Jaws, who had metal teeth and proved to be quite a match for Bond. Even though I forgot the story line and the girl Bond saves, I watched it just for Jaws and his escapades with James. Next is the unforgettable Sean Connery-era film Goldfinger. In this film, the ruthless villain Goldfinger was introduced and the iconic laser scene has been copied for decades. Also, Goldfinger kills a woman in the film and paints her gold. The villain Odd Job was also introduced and is sometimes known as the main villain instead of the henchman. The movie is the most iconic and classic of the franchise and made Sean Connery a household name. Then, my third favorite Bond film is the last of Sean Connery's reign as Bond after being away for almost a decade is Never Say Never Again. In this film, an aged Bond goes after a wimpy villain with a cool and terrifying computer game. This movie was such a thrilling experience for me because of the classic computer game Bond plays with the villain where the loser gets zapped with electricity. Even though the movie was a hit and Sean Connery's last Bond work, it comes into question of what happened to Roger Moore. But anyway, let's go to my second favorite Bond film. The Man with The Golden Gun would be my favorite if it weren't for Pierce Brosnan. In this film, Roger Moore faces off against an assassin Scaramanga (played by the wonderful Christopher Lee) and a dwarf henchman Nick Knack (who starred in Fantasy Island). Given away in the title, the villain carries a golden gun and is one of Bonds most memorable foes. And now it's time for my absolute favorite. At number one is the last Pierce Brosnan Bond film, Die Another Day. In the film, a recently tortured Bond goes after the man responsible for his pain Gustaf Graves. Aside from the awesome title song by Madonna, the movie is my favorite because of its Bond girl (Halle Berry) and its awesome sub-villain with a diamond embedded face. This is the best in the series and shows Pierce Brosnan at his best. Now let's talk about my favorite Bond girl. Although there have been over 50 Bond girls, and all of them being the same, there is only one that I love. And you guessed it, my favorite is Die Another Day's Oscar winning actress Halle Berry. Even though I loved Grace Jones as May Day in Roger Moore's A View to Kill and thought Miss Goodnight from The Man with The Golden Gun, I loved that there was actually an African-American Bond girl who was an agent and fought for the first time. Now let's talk villains. Throughout the series I've had numerous villains that I've liked, but these are my favorite. My third favorite villain is the one and only Goldfinger. I liked him because he brought a certain evil with him to the character and was very menacing. Then, my second favorite villain is the Japanese villain/henchmen, Xiao. In Die Another Day, Xiao's face is embedded with diamonds during an explosion and he then swears revenge on Bond. His character was very edgy and dark and the "million dollar face" gives him horror. And my ultimate all time favorite is Scaramanga. Christopher Lee gave this villain much complexity and played him well. I enjoyed this villain and his golden accessories. Then, there's my favorite Bond ever. I loved all of the Bonds except George Lazenby and Daniel Craig, and thought they did great, but only one is my favorite. My all time favorite is the one and only Pierce Brosnan. After I saw his performance in Die Another Day, I fell in love with him and watched all of his other Bond moments. He was the best overall. And now that you have heard my James Bond obsession, it's time for some late breaking news. Over this beloved Thanksgiving holiday, the 81-year-old actor Larry Hagman passed away from his 1 year battle with cancer. Hagman is most known for his iconic character J.R. Ewing on the 70s through 90s hit show Dallas and its reboot that debuted this summer by the same name. The reboot featured all of the old show's cast with the exceptions of Victoria Principle and others. J.R. Ewing was a classic tv villain and will be missed along with Larry Hagman. TNT, however, has not made any statements on whether the show will continue and air new episodes in January or quit. My heart goes out to all of the Dallas family. This concludes our 50th anniversary of Bond. I hope you enjoyed it and I apologize for leaving you on a sour note. As always, send me your comments on anything I have or haven't said and I will address it in my next blog. Tune in next week for all the news on your favorite celebrities and movies. And before I forget, make sure to read "The Trial" this week as it returns with chapter 5 after a three week absence at www.brordon2.blogspot.com. Until next time................

Skyfall

This past weekend, the new James Bond movie Skyfall opened in theaters and took the top spot. In this Bond movie, an ex-MI6 agent goes rogue and terrorizes the British agency. Bond (played by Daniel Craig) must stop the man (played by Oscar royalty Javier Bardem) before he makes his next move on MI6. Even though me and my mother hate the new Bond, we love the franchise itself and think this one is really good. Then, the next thing that makes this new Bond movie great is its theme song. The title song "Skyfall" is sung none other than 8-time Grammy Award winner Adele. This movie is a real treat and re imagines the Bond saga. Shout out to MGM! Now, let's talk about this past weekend's box office results. Usually, on Sunday nights, I love to go on box office mojo on the Internet and see the winner of the week's box office. However, since I blog about entertainment and celebrity news, I have decided to now tell you all of each week's box office winners and runner-ups. As you all know, Bond rose to the occasion and snagged first place at $88 million. This movie also marked a milestone as being the second  movie in Bond history to cost as much as it did to produce. So, you rock Bond. Then, at number two is the second most anticipated animated movie of the year Wreck-It Ralph. The big handed hero came in at $33 million, despite its box office win last week at its debut of $43 million. Then at three is the new Denzel Washington movie Flight. Since its debut at number two last week, the movie has received great reviews and Oscar buzz. This week, it came behind Wreck-It Ralph at $14 million. I hope Washington gets nominated again and wins next year. Then, the Ben Affleck film is still intriguing movie goers everywhere because it's still in the top five. At number four, Argo raked in a good $6 million. But despite its wild reviews and cool cast, the trailers for this movie have bored me and caused me not to go see it. So, I would be surprised if it turns out to be good. Then, last but not least, is the continuation of the awesome Liam Neeson films, Taken 2. The second film took in $4 million and is still receiving big numbers after being in theaters for almost ten weeks. And now, here's a recap of this week's box office results:

1. Skyfall -- $88 million
2. Wreck-It Ralph -- $33 million
3. Flight -- $14 million
4. Argo -- $6 million
5. Taken 2 -- $4 million

And now that that's over, let's discuss some celebrity news with Barbara Walters. This past week, Barbara has been making headlines with two artists, Nicki Minaj and Lindsey Lohan. Okay, as you all know, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have been feuding on the new season of American Idol for quite some time. And now, Miss Barbara Walters is taking sides with Mariah Carey. However, Nicki lashed out at Barbara on her three part reality series on "E!".  On her show, Nicki calls Barbara some pretty inappropriate names for taking Mariah's side without trying to hear hers. Even though Barbara took Mariah's side over yours, Nicki, you can't call her names like that. Barbara is a very powerful woman Nicki, and with a snap of her fingers, she could end your career. So, I suggest you watch what you say before you end on the street. Then, in more Lindsey Lohan news, Lindsey makes Barbara mad. On Friday, Barbara was supposed to interview Lindsey about her life and run-ins with the law. However, Lindsey cancelled the interview and disappointed millions including Wendy Williams. Well, there's still Liz and Dick on Lifetime. But, Barbara Walters said it's a disappointment to not be interviewing her and her perception of her has changed. Well that concludes this week's post and celebrity news. Join us next week for a countdown of my favorite Bond movies in a celebration of 50 years of James Bond. And as always, send me your feedback on anything I have and haven't said and I will address it in my next post. Until next time...........

Celebrity News

It's seems like I haven't posted in forever, but here it goes. In the past week, there have been many breaking celebrity news and shocking scandals. Let's go over the most popular. First up is Amanda Bynes. Recently, a magazine published a story saying that Amanda was naked in a New York hair beauty salon. Bynes has now retaliated. Bynes says that this story is ridiculous and she's suing them. She also says that "I'm 26, a multi-millionaire, and retired" and that she has no business doing that. Now, even though Amanda has been target of the media in these past months, I don't believe she was naked in the salon. However, her second statement is what gets me. How are you retired Amanda when you haven't been around that much? In fact, I looked up her net worth and it's only $8 million. And even though that's a lot of money to us, that's not a lot in the world of acting. A lot is $250 million, which is Tom Cruise's bank account. So what I say to Amanda is 'get back out of retirement so I can see another movie of you besides Sydney White'. Now, let's talk Lindsey Lohan. And I know America, I'm tired of talking about her too, but, news is news. This past Sunday, Lohan is being charged with lying to the police during the summer. I know you all are wondering 'what lie did she tell and when?' Well, I'll tell you. During the summer, Lohan got into a car accident and said that there was someone else driving her Porsche. However, ballistics show that Lohan was actually driving and that she lied to the police. Lying is against Lohan's probation and it could cause her to do some more time. I will keep you posted and tell you whether or whether not she's going to jail. Now let's go to a happier story. The classic movie Casablanca could be getting a sequel in the following years. Now I have a problem with this because of two reasons. The first reason is that Casablanca is one of the most sacred old movies and should be left untouched forever. My second reason is that no one really cares. The box office results will be extremely low because no one really knows what this is and most of the people who did see it is now dead or too old to be going to the movies. So, those are my problems. Feel free to leave me any of your comments on this impossible sequel. This brings us to our last story of the day. Two weeks ago, I told you I would keep you posted on the Sherman Hemsley story and it's now time for an update. This past week, a DNA test was done on the person coming forth as Hemsley's brother and it turns out, he's his brother. But don't ask me how or how Hemsley didn't know. And even if he's the brother, Hemsley didn't leave him anything in his will and he shouldn't get anything. Then, the distant reverend states that his mother, who claims to be related to Hemsley, was like an aunt to Hemsley so they should get money. What I'm saying is that "play" relatives don't count and even if these two were related, they should not get money. I swear, whenever money is involved we jump out of a gun. But anyway, this concludes this week's post and I hope you enjoyed yourself. And as always, send me your feedback on anything I have or haven't said and I will address it in my next post. Join us next week in our talk of celebrities and entertainment. Until next time.....

Halloween

As you all know, the festivities of the holiday Halloween have already begun and tomorrow is the big day. Kids will be "trick-or-treating" and adults will be passing out cavity-filled candy and/or scaring people. However, if you feel like your exhausted of all the fun or completely bored out of your mind, here are some of my favorite seasonal picks to get you in the mood. Now, these are just my seven seasonal picks to watch at Halloween. Don't watch them if you don't want to. My seventh favorite movie to watch at Halloween is the Tim Burton classic The Nightmare Before Christmas. In this stop motion (animated) scary flick, the king of Halloween Jack Skeleton gets tired of his signature holiday and is fascinated with Christmas when he goes to Santa's world. Jack then conjures up a diabolical scheme to take over Christmas, much to the disbelief of the townspeople of Jack's former holiday. This film is one of Tim Burton's few films that doesn't feature Johnny Depp and is a Halloween classic. If this doesn't get you a least bit interested in this holiday then I don't know what will. Then, my sixth favorite Halloween movie is another Tim Burton movie, Edward Scissorhands. In this live action spooky flick, a kind saleswoman takes in a weird man with shears for hands named Edward (played perfectly by Johnny Depp). This movie was an instant hit and is arguably the starting point of Depp's career. Next, at five is remake of the 1976 film Alice in Wonderland. In this fabulous Tim Burton film, a teenage girl revisits a familiar, strange world with smiling cats, talking crazy rabbits, and the Red Queen. Johnny Depp also costars as the iconic Mad Hatter and does a superb job. The film was an instant hit and won an Academy Award in 2011. This film will definitely leave you in a Halloween phase. Then at four, is the absolute spectacular remake of the 1979 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the ultimate remake and is also, of course, directed by Tim Burton. In this fantasy, a poor boy along with four other spoiled children are allowed to go to a recently opened chocolate factory founded by Willy Wonka (played supremely by Johnny Depp). This movie had dazzling scenery and awesome special effects and will leave you craving candy and wanting Halloween. At three is the African-American remake of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Wiz. In this 1979 fantasy, kindergarden teacher Dorothy (younger Diana Ross) is whisked away to a magical world full of witches by Glinda the Good, who is a witch herself and played by late Lena Horne. There, Dorothy meets three lads, Scarecrow (played by the awesome late great Michael Jackson), Tin Man (played by Nipsey Russel), and Lion (Ted Ross), and convinces all of them to go with her to meet the Wiz (the late Richard Pryor) and get some wishes granted. This movie has great special effects for its time period and should have been nominated for an Oscar for special effects, costumes, and score. I first saw this at the age of three and fell in love with it. This movie will put you in a "trick-or-treating" mood and feel for all of its characters. Then at two is my new favorite cartoon movie Coraline. In this powerful stop-motion picture, a girl named Coraline Jones (voiced by Dakota Fanning) moves to Pink Palace apartments and finds a secret door in the house. But, when she goes through the door, she finds a parallel world with the same parents but with button eyes. The world seems perfect, but Coraline finds out the true intentions of her new mother. This movie is a little frightening and weird but you will find it captivating and spell-binding. This will definitely put you in the mood of spook. Then, at number one, is the all-time favorite, the Peanuts classic, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. In this all time classic fable, blanket-loving Linus tries to convince the gang that there's a person named the Great Pumpkin and rises out of the local pumpkin patch. However, none of the other kids believe him except for Lucy and they all go trick or treating while Snoopy pretends to be the Red Baron. This movie is the best Halloween themed movie that will get you in the mood and will have you craving more Snoopy. Now that I have told you about my picks for Halloween, let's talk about some late-breaking celebrity news. As you all know, George Jefferson actor Sherman Hemsley passed away this past summer. However, he has still not been buried due to some legal disputes. In his will, Hemsley left his estate to life-long friend Flora Enchinton Bernol and only her. However, a man named Richard Thornton and a woman and son come forward claiming to be relatives of the late actor and they want the money. The three people say that it isn't about the money but if they are entitled to something, they should get it. Now, there are so many things wrong with this. First of all, we don't even know if these people are related so, before anything is done, get a DNA test and figure out whether or not they are really related. Second, if you guys say it's not about the money, then why are you showing up? If it's not about the money than just shut up and go to the funeral like everyone else. Third and lastly, this man is entitled to leave his money and estate to anyone he wants to. If he didn't leave it to you then stop trying to bring the matter back up. He left it to his friend so let it go to the friend. The man isn't even here to defend himself and you all are bickering like the Jackson family. He didn't leave it to you, and he's entitled to leave it to whoever he wants, so move on. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this week's post and keep tuning in each week to find out all of your movie and celebrity news. And remember, send me your feedback on anything I have or haven't said and I will address it in my next post. Until next time.........

Greatest Movie Franchises Countdown Part II

Last week, I went over some of the greatest, most grossing, and iconic movie franchises of all time. Here's a recap:

19. Diary of a Wimpy Kid -- $165, 142, 918
18. The Godfather -- $249,175,314
17. Kill Bill -- $331,006,058
16. Final Destination -- $477,080,639
15. Hunger Games -- $636,533,290
14. X Men -- $932,903,335
13. The Matrix -- $1,623,116,618
12. Toy Story -- $1,945,421,813
11. Indiana Jones -- $1,980,610,580

Now that we've gotten last week's numbers out of the way, let's continue the countdown starting at 10. At #10 is the super cool spy flick, Mission Impossible. In the film, Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt, a ruthless IMF agent who is framed numerous times over the actions of his spy team, which have recently been replaced in the fourth film. So far these films have raised $2,096,647,856 and has been copied over the past ten years for its iconic ceiling drop scene done by Tom Cruise. This is one of my personal picks and deserves to be in the top ten. Then, at 9 is the vampire-romance series Twilight. In this action filled, romance franchise, Bella Swan (played by scandalous star Kristen Stewart) moves to Forks, Washington and begins a love affair with a 100-year-old vampire who is stuck in a 17 year old body Edward Cullen, (played superbly by teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson). Throughout the franchises course, the two have went through numerous battles with vampire armies and run ins with the vampire authorities. Although the franchise has been under fire with Stewart's recent scandal, the movies have received $2,508,379,328. Twilight is also one of my favorite franchises and is super cool. This number is expected to change after the final film hits theaters in November. Next, at #8, is the sci fi robot movie, Transformers. In this car-transforming movie series, a young adult named Sam acquires a car in which he finds out can shape shift into a huge robot. Sam then finds out about the whole robot race living on earth and its villains. Throughout its three movies, the robots face off against their nemesis, the Decepticons and help Sam save the planet. The franchise has grossed $2,669,760,469 and the last movie was partly shot in Michigan two years ago. This number is also expected to change when the next film comes out. At 7 is the middle age franchise Lord of the Rings. This ensemble franchise is about a mischievous ring that causes destruction on middle earth and a man (played by the one-time actor Elijah Wood) who must travel to Mordor to destroy this powerful ring. This series has grossed $2,913,933,388 and has won 15 Academy Awards over the three years it ran. This number is also scheduled to change once The Hobbit reaches theaters in November. For those of you who can't watch Harry Potter, I definitely recommend this for you. Next at 6 is the one and only best superhero franchise, Spiderman. In this superhero franchise, a college guy (first played by Tobey Maguire and later Andrew Garfield)  fights crime with his spider powers like sticking up the walls and slinging by a web. This franchise has introduced the world to infamous villains like Venom, Doc Octopus and the Green Goblin and has raked in $3,248,471,626. Spiderman happens to be my favorite superhero so you already know how I feel about the movies. Then at #5 is the movie adaptions of the popular DC Universe hero Batman. Since 1942, this franchise has focused on multi-millionaire Bruce Wayne who dresses up as vigilante Batman and goes around fighting villains like The Joker, Dr. Freeze, the Penguin, and Grundy. The caped crusader has been played by George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and recently, Christian Bale and has raked in $3,701,104,322 at the box office. Lately, the winning Batman series has been Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight franchise. Then at 4 is the swashbuckling series Pirates of the Carribean. This series follows the adventures of pirate captain Jack Sparrow (played tremendously by my favorite actor Johnny Depp) and his crew aboard the Black Pearl. The crew often faces dangers with other pirates like Davvy Jones and recently, Blackbeard. This before-American Revolution-pirate movies made $3,727,735,967 and will be coming out with a final installment in 2013 or 2014. (Sources have not yet confirmed) And now, it's down to the bottom 3. At number three is............. Star Wars. This awesome series is best known for its famous line "Luke, I am your father" which was never spoken in any of the films, and its directing of the last three films first and the first three twenty years later. Star Wars is the story of intergalactic war between earth and the Deathball, lead by iconic villain Darth Vader (voice of James Earl Jones). Then, later on in the films, it is revealed that Darth Vader is the father of Jedi hero Luke Skywalker and that he has a sister. The very iconic space film grossed $4,411,410,761 and has won an Oscar for its special effects. These films have earned the right to be the third best movie franchise in the history of franchises. Then, at 2 is the franchise that has revolutionized the way we look at spies and has been around since the 1960s is "Bond.......James Bond." James Bond is the movie adaptions of Ian Fleming's popular spy books reflecting on his own life. In the films, a British MI6 agent James Bond saves the world numerous times by iconic psychopaths like Goldfinger and Scaramanga. This movie franchise has set the record of having the most movies in it which is at the number of 23 and is known for its broad name of movies like You only live Twice or Die Another Day. Bond has earned $5,074,402,453 in the worldwide box office like all the other franchises and has had six different Bonds during its run. George Lazenby (who only starred as James once), Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton (who only graced the screen twice), Pierce Brosnan, and recent actor Daniel Craig have all played the iconic British spy. However, Pierce Brosnan has been my personal favorite with his movie Die Another Day. But, we'll get into the James Bond era some other time. And now, its the time you've all been waiting for since last week. Number 1 is..................................................................................................Harry Potter. Harrry Potter has been around for years and its movies have lasted for 11 years. In this wizarding tale, a boy (played by star Daniel Radcliffe) goes to Hogwartz to learn to be a wizard and there he learns of the dark wizard he must face when the time comes, Lord Voldemort (played with ease by Ralph Fiennes). Harry also meets lifetime friends Hermoine (the talented Emma Watson) and Ron (played by laid-back actor Rupert Grint). This top selling series has earned $7,706,147,978 and the title of best movie franchise of all time. Only time will tell rather either of these other franchises surpass the total grossing of Harry Potter, and even if they do, Harry will and always will be #1. Here's a recap of this week's top ten:
10. Mission Impossible -- $2,096,647,856
9. Twilight -- $2,508,379,328
8. Transformers -- $2,669,760,469
7. Lord of the Rings -- $2,913,933,388
6. Spiderman -- $3,248,471,626
5. Batman -- $3,701,104,322
4. Pirates of the Carribean -- $3,727,735,967
3. Star Wars -- $4,411,410,761
2. James Bond -- $5,074,402,453
1. Harry Potter -- $7,706,147,978

Now that we've got the top ten movie franchises out of the way, let's look at a little bit of celebrity news. This past weekend, movies like Paranormal Activity 4 and Alex Cross opened at the box office. However, these two did poorly for their expected results. Paranormal 4 opened at number 1, but with the results of $29,003,866. This number is lower than the third installments number and could be boring audiences now with its lame storyline and dull special effects. Then, Alex also didn't do too good. This opened up at number 5 with $11,396,768. I hope the numbers improve by next week because I would love people to come back from the theaters and say Tyler Perry was good at being an action star and help boost his movie reputation. Well, that concludes this week's post and the last of the greatest movie franchise list. As always, send me your comments on things I have or haven't said and I will address it in my next post. Tell me what you thought about the movie countdown. Did your favorite movie franchise make the list? Do you think I should have put the movies in a different order that isn't according to its worldwide gross? Tell me your thoughts. And please ladies and gentlemen, read my online series The Trial at brordon2.blogspot.com. The numbers have gotten even worse after its debut and I really want to get a buzz going on out there about it. Tell your friends, family, and neighbors about it. This is me signing out. Until next time......

Greatest Movie Franchises Countdown

Over the years, there have been many hit movies and sequels to those movies that have sparked some of the biggest phenomenons of all time. I will go over some of the biggest and iconic movie franchises of all time and I will put them in order of their box office grossings. (I have listed 19 that I think are the greatest) Let us begin. At number 19, is the relatively new franchise, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In this lame movie series based on its novel, the horrors of middle school is seen through the eyes of scrawny, wimpy teenager Greg Heffley. These films also focus on Greg's dysfunctional family and wacky friends. So far, this franchise has made $165,142,918 worldwide and is one of the lowest grossing franchises of all time. If things keep going like this, the project could be cancelled. Then, at 18, is the infamous crime drama series, The Godfather. In this incredible crime drama, the rise of Don Corleone from immigrant to mobster is followed along with his troubled sons and their take at the family throne. "The Godfather" trilogy garnered 9 Academy Awards and made $249,175,314 at the box-office. Even though this series did weak money wise, its notoriety made up for it and it's now known as one of the greatest crime films of all time. At 17 is the action packed revenge saga Kill Bill, one of my favorites. In this smashing, Quentin Tarantino directed action flick, a woman wakes up from a four-year coma and proceeds to get revenge on the 5 people who put her there, and killed her unborn child. This awesome franchise made $331,066,058 at the box-office and is subject to change in 2014 when the third installment comes to theaters. This happens to be on my must-watch list and I definitely recommend this for any of you adrenaline seekers (which I've already done). The next movie has been around for years and has entertained horror lovers for a decade. Final Destination is found at number 16. In all five films, a teen has a vision that he/she will die with friends in a local tragedy. The teen then saves their friends and the event happens, but Death has a design for each of them. This is a very chilly thriller and has you on the edge of your seat the entire franchise. It has received $477,080,639 worldwide and is one of the longest running horror franchises along with Halloween and Resident Evil. At 15, is the infamous record breaking series The Hunger Games. Even though this series has only made one installment, it is the first movie franchise to receive that much money and publicity for its first installment. This series is set in the near future, where the world is split into districts. Each year, a district sends forth two teenage fighters to compete in the sadistic Hunger Games, where people fight to the death until one remains. This series which was created from the book is very entertaining and broke records as being the third highest opening movie in history with 155 million. The series has already made $686,533,290, but this is subject to change when the second installment hits theaters in 2013. At 14, Marvel's top-selling franchise X-Men rolls in. In the X-Men series, mutants with super-cool powers are featured learning how to use their powers at a special school founded by Charles Xavier, a fellow mutant. These mutants also face saving the world against nationwide threats like mutant armies and the government. This series that founded Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) as a worldwide idol has made $932,903,335 at the box office and this too is subject to change when the new "Wolverine" movie opens next year. Then, at 13, is the best action franchise ever made, The Matrix. The awesome Wachowski brothers produced, wrote, and directed this futuristic sci-fi about a nation in 2199 suffering attacks from life-destroying machines. Then, some people go into this computer generated world where they fight bullet-dodging agents and the police to save the remaining city of the world and defeat the machines. Even though the story line is quite confusing and my description barely helped, the action is awesome and will have you on your knees begging for more. This trilogy has produced $1,623,116,618 and has earned to be in the greatest movie franchises hall of fame. Next, at 12, is the lovable Disney animated franchise Toy Story. In this fun, family-filled animated trilogy, Disney brings us into a world of toys acquired by a boy named Andy that can talk. Throughout the movies, the toys are faced with challenges like being left by their owner because they're broken or stolen by a weird 40-year-old antique collector. Disney has made $1,945,421,813 more and made characters like Woody (voice of two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen) pop culture icons. At 11 is the iconic Indiana Jones series. For over 20 years and 4 gold movies, Harrison Ford has played the temple explorer Indiana Jones. Jones has faced thousands of temples, tumbling rocks, and .....snakes! Over the years, the box-office toppling series has made $1,980,610,580 and has made Harrison Ford into an American idol. That concludes this week's post and tune in next week to find out if your favorite movie franchises made the top ten list in "Greatest Movie Franchises Countdown Part II". Also, I wish for you all to at least look at my new story The Trial at brordon2.blogspot.com. It debuted poorly and I would just really love it to start transpiring with all of you who enjoy this blog. And not to forget, please send me any of your feedback on things that I have or haven't said, and I will address it in my next blog. (And I will continue to write on this blog along with the other, so all of you buzzers, make sure to tune in to both) This is me signing out. Until next week........

Steel Magnolias

Last night, (or October 7, 2012 since this will be posted later on this week), Lifetime showed an array of African-American films to get ready for the remake of the 80s film "Steel Magnolias". The night started with the classic Tyler Perry film The Family That Preys, which stars the new Steel Magnolias star Alfre Woodard and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates. This movie is arguably Perry's best movie and features some issues that rock our world today such as family affairs, scandals, and what it means to be friends. This is outstanding and should have been nominated for an Academy Award. Then, it was followed by Abducted: The Carlina White Story. This movie is about a woman (played beautifully by Aunjunae Ellis), who's upset with her inability to have a baby, steals a child belonging to another 16 year old girl. Then, 23 years later, the girl find out that she's been abducted and a whole police investigation ensues and the woman is arrested. Not only was I fascinated by the fact that this happened in real life, but I was amazed with the acting by Keke Palmer (who played Carlina White and Akeelah in Akeelah and the Bee) and Aunjunae Ellis. This was also a Lifetime film and I recommend it for anyone who loves psychotic drama movies. And then, there was the world premiere of the remake of Steel Magnolias. In the original and remake of the movie, six women are examined and each are put through the motions of death. In the original, Sally Field was the matriarch of the main family and Julia Roberts as her daughter but this time around legend Queen Latifah takes the stage with former co-star Phylicia Rashad's real life daughter Condola Rashad. This movie is sad, but also hilarious and heartfelt. The film also co-stars Alfre Woodard, Adepero Oduye, and Why Did I Get Married? star Jill Scott. Now it's time for some celebrity gossip. Over the weekend, film star Danny Devito announces separation with wife Rhea Perlman after 30 years of happily married life. At this point, there has been no reason for their separation. Then, Lifetime is being sued over their Steel Magnolias remake by the producers of the old one. The old producer claims that Lifetime never asked her permission to do this remake and she wants her cut for the storyline. I'm still researching to find the exact details of the lawsuit but at this moment I have no more news about it. Keep reading to find out more news about it. But before I go, I have your second movie assignment. This week, I have decided to give you Chicago. This 2002 Best Picture winner is the musical story of Roxie Hart ( played beautifully by 2002 Best Actress nominee and newly Academy Award winner Renee Zellwegger) and her murder case which sends her to jail. While in jail, she competes to upstage her Broadway idol Velma Kelly ( played by 2002 Best Supporting Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones) and get off of death row with the help of defense attorney Billy Flynn ( 80s star Richard Gere). This movie is one of the best musicals of all time and shows how much of a dog eat dog world it really is out there. This concludes this week's post and as always, send me your feedback on anything I have or haven't said and I will try and address it in my next post. This is me signing out. Until next time........

The Premieres

This past weekend, we've had the major fall line-up premiers, but before I go into detail about that, let's talk gossip. Over this past week, 80s action star Arnold Schwarzenegger has opened up about his most infamous scandalous marriage. We've all heard about his affair with his maid and secretly fathering a child, but new scandalous secrets have come about this past Californian governor. Schwarzenegger admits to keeping his 1997 operation secret and having even more affairs with other women. First of all, Arnold, your last name is too hard to say and spell and I barely got past "Sch". Second, you're going down in history as the worst husband of all time. Who cheats on their wife with someone as practical as the maid and has a child with her.  Then, you have more news to come out about? What more can you possibly tell Maria Shriver after all that has happened? But in other news, fallen child star Lindsey Lohan was allegedly attacked outside of her hotel room. A 25 year-old man was arrested Sunday morning for grabbing the actress over cellphone images. Lindsey, after all that has happened over you running someone over and stealing a necklace, do we really believe you. You're the girl who was arrested more times than Charlie Sheen and you expect us to believe someone grabbed you. How do we know you didn't grab him over something and then say he did that to you to the police? Then again, there are some crazy people out there and you never know. Then, in a recent interview on CNN, former child star Danny Bonaduce revealed that over the weekend, a fan of his went in to kiss him on the cheek and then bit him. Bonaduce said the bite didn't hurt that much and didn't leave too much of a mark. Rather the "vampire fan" being pressed charges on has been unconfirmed. And finally in today's celebrity news, the Academy has announced that Seth Macfarlane will host the 85th Academy Awards. This upcoming awards show is going to be the best in years. Of course we all know Macfarlane from the creator and voice of Family Guy and American Dad, so this upcoming year should be a real treat. And congratulations on the success of Family Guy Seth. And now, it's time for the premier ratings of this years fall-lineup. Many television shows opened weak, but others really thrived and exceeded expectations. Let's talk ABC. This year, ABC brought on new show 666 Park Avenue and expected it's viewers to be as seduced as the characters. However, viewers found it hard to move into this apartment and the show only seduced 7 million people with 2.2 percent adult demographic. I hope the ratings improve because I would love to see Vanessa Williams show that she can do better things than Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty. But before Williams could debut, the return of two hit shows premiered in their time slots and came out with a bang. Revenge opened strong with 9.5 million and a 3.2 adult demographic while Once upon a Time had the highest opening of the night for a television show with 11 million and 3.8 adult demographic. On Once upon a Time, I'm still stuck on the fact that the characters symbolize fairy tale icons, such as Cinderella. What does that even mean? But anyway, now let's talk about CBS. CBS' shows on Sunday suffered plenty of losses with its ratings depending on where they used to be. Firstly, CBS' Amazing Race only raked in 9.7 million viewers and a 2.5 demographic and The Good Wife only took in 9.8 million with a 1.8 adult demographic. Both shows were down 17 and 18 percent from their usual intake. Then, The Mentalist hit a series low with 10.8 million viewers. I would like to put it out there that this show is totally  ridiculous and Simon Baker's character is stubborn, obnoxious, and a know-it-all. But, that's just my opinion. Let's go over to Fox. This past Sunday, Fox premiered this fall/winter's "animation domination". The Simpsons premiered with 8 million, which is low for this cartoon heavyweight, and Family Guy only got 6.5 million. Hope these two ratings improve as well because I would love to see Homer a few more seasons and Family Guy for as many seasons as The Simpsons. There are also some shows that debuted throughout last week, and let me tell you, they were a total bust. Fox's The Mob Doctor premiered on Monday and had low ratings. With only 5.1 million under it's belt, Fox might be having the doctor sleeping with the fishes. Then, Ben and Kate only raked half of the viewers of "The Mindy Project". I told you this television show would set back Fox 20 years and its comedy could kill zombies. These two shows might not make it to see another day, and the only reason Ben and Kate got that many viewers was because of its time slot. Then, NBC's Animal Practice harshly surpassed mob doctor. With ratings like 5.2 million, NBC might tell tell the animals to knock off the monkey business. Guys with Kids debuted the lowest out of all the shows last week and is rumored to be cancelled after four episodes if its ratings don't improve. The guys only entertained a low 4.8 million. I hope this show can at least go on for two seasons because I would hate to see Anthony Anderson suffer another loss after his Law and Order reboot. And finally, The Neighbors might be moving out of this world. In my debut blog, I predicted that it would be hard to catch on to this out-of this-world comedy, and coincidentally, so did viewers. The Neighbors started out with 9.2 million viewers, however, it retained 60 percent of that number. I knew this storyline was junk, and apparently many people agreed with me. The television show Last Resort is also in bad shape and is rumored to be cancelled after four episodes on air as well. I would also like to give a shout out to million-dollar producer Shonda Rimes. Rimes is an African-American executive producer and has created television royalty Grey's Anatomy and newcomer Scandal. This past week, Grey's Anatomy raked in a whopping 11.5 million and Scandal produced 7 million viewers, which was bigger than last season's premiere. Shonda Rimes is phenomenal and Scandal happens to be one of the juiciest dramas that keeps-you-guessing of all time. Kerry Washington is superb as the fixer Olivia Pope. However, you'll have to wait until next week to get the scoop on that show and its cast members. Well, its about that time again and I want to thank you for reading this week's issue. I also want to know how you liked Kill Bill Vol. 1. Send me your thoughts on this past week's movie as well as your questions, comments, and thoughts on anything I have or haven't said. Until next time.....

Movies!Movies!Movies!

This fall season brought about many new television shows, but I want to cover the surface of the movies of this fall and winter. There are many different genres ranging from comedies to drama opening up this fall and one director who's the talk of the town is the all-mighty Quentin Tarantino. This winter, the bloody good Quentin Tarantino returns to the silver screen with his powerful action-drama Django Unchained. In the movie, Jaime Foxx portrays the slave Django who is offered a bounty hunting job in return for his freedom. He also tracks down the unlawful man (played deviously well by motion picture royalty Leonardo DiCaprio) who bought his wife (played by Scandal star Kerry Washington). This has already received beautiful reviews and shows that Quentin Tarantino is the king of blood and mischief. He will also continue the Kill Bill saga with the third volume of the box-office smash super assassin "The Bride". Leonardo DiCaprio will also play the iconic character Jay Gatsby in the upcoming remake of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby. In the movie, a man named Nick Carraway (former Spider-man Tobey Macguire) recalls his encounters with his rich neighbor, Gatsby, who fights for his former love Daisy. This movie comes out the day after Tarantino's Django and is receiving some Oscar buzz. In other news, Denzel Washington is going to be in another movie this year which is coming out in November. Flight is the story of a pilot with a drinking problem (played by two-time Oscar winner Washington) who saves everyone on board his plane when one of the engines gives out. This is one of the key movies of this fall-winter season and I hope that Denzel is nominated for an Academy Award. This Friday, Won't Back Down opens in theaters and I hope this movie does well at the box-office. In the movie, a teacher/mother (played by two-time Academy Award nominee Viola Davis) agrees to take over a public school (legally) with a disgruntled mother (Maggie Gylenhall) so that the kids can have a better education. Last year Viola Davis shockingly lost her second Academy Award to Meryl Streep. That was definitely the most shocking loss in Academy Award history. I mean, her performance in The Help as Aibileen was so powerful that it could rival anything Meryl Streep ever did. Hopefully, the Academy will make up their mistake by nominating Viola again. For all you "Lord of the Rings" fanatics, this should be a treat. The prequel of the lord-of-the-rings trilogy The Hobbit: Unexpected Journey opens this winter. This Peter Jackson adaption follows the travels of Frodo Baggins older relative Bilbo Baggins and explores how he came into contact with the Ring, and Smeegle. Personally, I didn't think that a prequel would be necessary for Lord of the Rings but I will still be there to see it. And lastly, Tom Hanks and Halle Berry return to the big screen in the Wachowski Bro. adaption of the book Cloud Atlas. The Wachowski brothers (The Matrix trilogy) are at it again with a movie that brings together big stars throughout six different time periods. In Cloud Atlas, the idea is stressed that no matter which time period or person, everything is related in some way and everyone has a story. Cloud Atlas has pushed the boundaries of movies by having a huge ensemble cast, over 172 hours of entertainment, and one of the biggest budgets ever of movies which haven't been co-produced by a major company ( such as Lionsgate or Universal). That pretty much concludes all of the big movies coming out at the end of this year. But before you go, I have an assignment for you. For all you buzzers out there, every other week I will give you a movie to watch and they will all be from different time periods and genres. This week, your movie is.....................Kill Bill Vol. 1. I think many of you will find this a bucket load of action and.......REVENGE.  Keep reading to see if any of your favorite entertainment news will be featured on my next blog. And as always, please send me your feedback on what I have or haven't said and I will try and change it. This is me signing out.

glee!

This past Thursday, the highly anticipated fourth season of Glee premiered on a new time and night. As some of you know and don't know, on the third season finale, Finn basically broke up Rachel and told her to go to New York and follow her dreams in the midst of their high school graduation. On the season premiere, Rachel is now at NYADA and had trouble with her dance teacher (Kate Hudson). Back at McKinley High, Blaine, Tina, Britney, and the new addition Wade (a.k.a Unique) compete to get the new lead in the showcase. Kurt is also shown dealing with his issues, but the major leads such as Mercedes, Puck, and the infamous Finn are missing in action. In other news, reality show The X Factor also premiered this week and Britney Spears is now officially the new Simon. Many people called her comments unnecessary and cruel. She even said "sorry, but you don't have the x factor". Even though this season has been the most talked about throughout the summer, the ever talented Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green beat their ratings with another hit reality show The Voice. The reality television world has never been more fierce, and the competition will really be stiff with American Idol returning in the winter. Speaking of Idol, the three new judges have been confirmed. Mariah Carey, surprisingly Keith Urban, and the black Lady Gaga, Nikki Minaj will join Randy Jackson (which I'm not sure if he's judging or mentoring) in season 13. Now first of all, the fact that Nikki Minaj was even mentioned as a judge is a disgrace to all Idol fans. She doesn't even sing and needs to take a few fashion tips from someone as practical as me. But, besides the judging ideas, I think this might be a good year for Idol. Then, this past week, actor Michael Clark Duncan passed away at the age of 54. He was best known for his beautiful portrayal of John Coffey in the critically acclaimed movie The Green Mile where he played a death row inmate alongside prison guard Tom Hanks. He will be missed. Keep following for updates on your favorite celebrity news, television shows, and movies. Also, do you feel that my blogs are long? And if so, is the reason that many of you won't follow me because of it? And as always, please send me your feedback on anything I have or haven't said and I will try to address it in the following blog. This is me signing out. Until then......

Summer Tops and Drops....Part 2

The last time I posted, I left off on the downfall of Total Recall and all those other tops and drops of summer.  However, we still have a few more tops and drops to go through. Not only did we have some good action movies this past summer, but we also had a few comedies. The creators of Borat decided to give it another go with outrageous comedy "The Dictator." Sacha Baron Cohen gives a funny performance as a foreign dictator who comes to America and gets into a lot of trouble. Critics loved the movie and it did pretty decent  at the box-office, raking in $174,950,222 worldwide. Another comedy this summer that did outstanding was  "Ted," the comedy about a man and his.................bear. In the movie, a boy wishes for his teddy bear to be real, and he gets his wish. The two grow up together, and get into all kinds of mischief. This was probably the funniest movie of the summer and took in $374,289,040 worldwide. This and The Dictator were total tops. However, not every comedy got through to movie-goers. "The Watch," starring comedic heavyweights such as Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, and Jonah Hill, did horribly. In this box office drop, four friends start a neighborhood watch and have a more-than-close encounter with the "third" kind. With only $42,834,200 under its belt, "The Watch" was the lowest grossing movie of the summer that received as much publicity as it did. I don't think we'll be seeing too much of Vince Vaughn any time soon. In spite of Kristen Stewart's recent scandal, her movie "Snow White and The Huntsman" got a ton of publicity and many fans were eager to see her transition from vampire-girl to beautiful princess Snow White this past summer. In Snow White, a ruthless queen (beautifully played by Charlize Theron) hires a man to hunt down Snow White (Stewart) in order to break her spell of aging so she can live forever. Although I praise Kristen for her portrayal as Isabella Swan, I love her as Snow White and would love to see her do a sequel. This slightly dark twist of the original raked in $393,950,105 and is definitely a summer top. All you Diary of a Wimpy Kid lovers will probably stone me for this, but news is news. This pass summer, Twentieth Century Fox brought us yet another installment of Jeff Kinney's wonderful books, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days." This time around, in order to skip around spending a lot of money on making the films, Fox decided to combine the third and fourth books together. However, their idea of making two into one and getting more money for it failed. This movie has grossed $52,413,378 worldwide, making it the weakest first month of any of the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid films. Now, even though I love the books, the movies, to me, are unnecessary and stupid. First of all, if you're going to make the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"series, film it right. Usually in the movies, Greg is portayed as a jerk and Rowley is seen as an innocent good kid, which we all know isn't true. This is a summer drop. And now for the grand finale. The moment you've all been waiting for. The last big top or drop movie. And the last movie is Christopher Nolan's most anticipated film, the last movie in "The Dark Knight" series, The Dark Knight Rises. Christian Bale, for the last time, returns as Batman and faces a whole new villian Bane (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Lucious Fox (played non-other than the wonderful Morgan Freeman) also has a new gagdet for the caped crusader, The Bat. Dazzling special effects and the new hero-villian Catwoman complete the last movie of Christopher Nolan's blockbuster series. Not only is this movie a total summer top, but it has earned a spot in the top five highest grossing weekend openings with $160,887,295 and has earned $1,042,014,544 in the worldwide box-office. This concludes all the biggest tops and drops movies of the summer. Thank you for reading and tune in next week for all the latest gossip in the entertainment world. And as always, send me all your questions and comments on anything I have or haven't said. Until next time..........

Summer Tops and drops......

This past summer brought about a ton of good movies, but that doesn't necessarily mean they were blockbusters. Let's get right into them. The first movie to start off the summer was none other than The Avengers. Not only was this action-packed superhero movie a blockbuster, but it beat Harry Potter's last movie record of being the highest grossing movie in its opening night. Now, personally, Harry Potter is my favorite movie franchise and I admit that I didn't believe that this movie would do better than all the Harry Potter openings. So I was shocked that Saturday evening. The movie got outstanding reviews and is the first movie to have so many mega superheroes, and the same actors playing them, and still do good at the box-office. The next most talked about movie of the summer was the board-game based Battleship. This Transformers- related movie got great publicity and outstanding media buzz, but hardly won back any of its movie budget and only made $302,836,260. Now I know you're thinking that this is a lot of money, but compared to movies such as The Dark Knight Rises, and looking at how much it was expected to make, this was a total drop and probably won't have a sequel. Another movie that was supposed to be one of the turning points of Tom Cruise's career after Mission Impossible was this summer was Rock of Ages. This rocking and rolling movie set in the 80's was about a struggling music joint which based their lives on having Stacy Jaxx (Tom Cruise) perform there. A group of women led by Catherine Zeta-Jones also tries to stop the performance. Although this movie got great reviews and is highly recommended by yours truly, crowds disagreed. Rock of Ages only received $50,118,613 worldwide and is the second-to-first movie that made the least amount of money with great media buzz. This is definitely a summer drop. Now let's go to a lighter part of the summer. This year, we were introduced to two new installments in two different blockbuster series. The Amazing Spider-Man was the second superhero movie to open up this summer. It was a huge success at the box-office, although many people, including me, thought that the transition to the new spider was a little exhausting. Which is one of the reasons why it was behind Spider-Man 3 in box-office tickets by $125 million. Some crowds also thought that the big flashback to high school was unnecessary. But, it did make $705,048,927 at the box-office and is a summer top. Then, our favorite prehistoric animals are back in the all new star-studded Ice Age: Continental Drift. In this fourth installment of the series, Manny, Diego, and Sid find themselves adrift on an ice pan when the continents start to form and drift apart. The voices include Queen Latifah, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Keke Palmer, and Jennifer Lopez. This movie is fun for the whole family and has made over $800 million. I recommend this cool summer top. Another animated movie that was the talk of the town over the summer was Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. This third installment of the highly popular "Madagascar" series finds our favorite trio of zoo animals still trying to find their way home to New York in the "comforting hands" of Europe. This fun-filled movie is very funny and is a summer top coming in at $603.9 million. Next, we have to take a tragic turn at Total Recall. This futuristic thriller is about a man who goes to a weird place to get his fantasy of having a action-packed life fulfilled. However, he gets a little more than he bargained for when troops come after him in the middle of his wish. But he must ask himself one thing : Is this real, or a figment of my imagination? This movie is a must-see and brings the true experience back to watching thrillers. However, it has only made $135,232,192 at the box-office and is sadly classified as a drop. Read my next post to find out whether some of your favorite summer movies of 2012 made the summer drop or top list in "Summer Tops and Drops....Part 2". And as always, please give me your feed back on anything that I have said or haven't said. Tell me what you think. Well, until next time, this is me signing out.

What's The buzz

Welcome to The buzz, which is where anyone can come to read about all the latest movies, music, television, celebrities, and of course, my opinion. And please, feel free to send me feedback and questions about anything I'm talking about or not, and I will try to talk about it in my next post. Now, let's get down to business. First of all, the fall season brings about many new television series, and this year, just like any other, there are a ton of new shows, and new seasons of old shows. Let's talk about Fox. Fox is known for it's dramas such as House and 24, but this year, it has a few comedies that will be joining it's lineup, alongside the highly anticipated returns of Glee and New Girl. One of the new shows debuting is "Ben and Kate," which tells the story of a guy who moves in with his sister and her daughter and supposedly has "hilarious" results. I don't really believe that it will be picked up for a second season, but the way the world works today, you never know. Another show debuting on Fox is "The Mindy Project." In this show, a female doctor tries to find love and juggle her job at the same time. Okay, first of all, does this even seem appealing to any of you? Because I think that this might be one of Fox's worst attempts at a comedic success yet. But, like I said before, you never know. We'll just have to wait and see if these shows will rise to glory, such as the huge success of Glee. Next, let's talk NBC. Just like Fox, this network decided to dwell in comedy, but I believe they will have better results. One of it's new shows is "Go On," which is anchored by Matthew Perry, (Chandler, Friends). This show is about a radio host (Perry) who's wife just died. He tries to regroup with the guidance of a "self-help" with many colorfull chaaracters. I definitely recommend this show. It's original and funny. Another NBC comedy debuting this fall is "Animal Practice," which tells the funny on-goings of an animal clinic. Not only is NBC offering us new comedies to watch, but they're also going to give us a a little bit of drama. "Revolution" is a futuristic drama about all the electricity of the world going out and a teenager must try and locate the only relative she knows that's alive. Although NBC is sounding really great, let me tell you about ABC's new ideas. This year, ABC has decided to give us some more great dramas to go along with their smash hit Scandal. "Nashville" is the story of a country singer who has passed her prime, and is trying to come back to the spotlight all the while trying to compete with a new honky-tonk, pop country star. Then, "Last Resort" is the story of a rebellious submarine ship who has been attacked by their own country. Both of these shows sound spectacular, although their new comedy, "The Neighbors," is a bit hard to get a grip on. This comedy is about a family who suspects that their new neighbors are literally "outta-this-world." I'm a little skeptical about this one but, we'll see how this one plays out. Well, this has been a spectacular first post and I want to thank all of you for reading. Again, please send me your feedback. It will really help. This is me signing out. Until next time....
